About me
I'm Alexander Perocho, an ML Platform Engineer at Mobility Global (previously S&P Global Mobility) and a final-year Computer Science student at Western University.
What I Do
I work on the ML platform team, which runs the infrastructure that other teams use to deploy, serve, and monitor their models: 20+ NVIDIA Triton deployments for 6+ product teams, across 6 EKS clusters in 2 AWS regions. I joined in September 2025 as an MLOps intern at CARFAX, stayed on through the company's separation from S&P Global, and now work part-time while I finish my degree.
Most of my time has gone into observability: multi-tenant Grafana, SLA alerting that model owners actually trust, and making telemetry cheaper to run. I've also worked on identity and access control, like making every model registered in MLflow traceable to a real person. Platform work turned out to be far more design-oriented than I expected. Even when the change is a few lines of YAML, the interesting part is deciding how the system should behave and how someone will support it later. The details are on my experience page.
Where I'm Headed
I want to keep working on platform engineering for ML, and to move closer to the ML side of it: model deployment, serving, and the path from training to production. I graduate in December 2026.
Tech Stack
My bread and butter is AWS and Kubernetes: EKS, Karpenter, Helm, ArgoCD, and Terraform. For observability I use the Grafana LGTM stack (Loki, Grafana, Tempo, Mimir) with Grafana Alloy, Prometheus, and OpenTelemetry. On the ML side I work with NVIDIA Triton, MLflow, and Flyte.
I write Python for services and tooling, some Go, and a lot of shell. I live in the terminal, using Ghostty and a LazyVim-based Neovim setup.
Beyond Work
I'm Vice President of Western's Computer Science Undergraduate Society, where I run our technical workshops. This term that has included one co-delivered with an OpenAI engineer and a workshop I built on using Claude Code day to day.
Outside of Work
I'm someone who values a healthy lifestyle. I'm an avid runner, currently training for my first full marathon, and a competitive cross-country mountain biker. I've competed in events like the 24 Hours of Summer Solstice in Ontario and continue to explore the sport.
I grew up as a competitive swimmer and still enjoy time in the water. I'm passionate about the outdoors, I've hiked the entire Bruce Trail with my family, and we make annual camping trips to crown lands. When I'm not outside, you might find me playing the guitar or singing (though I wouldn't call myself good at either).
